Settings Called to Take SEND Pledge

A letter has been shared by the Assistant Director of SEND & Inclusion, Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, after devising a comprehensive map for improvements within settings and is calling for all persons impacted by Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to take the pledge:

‘Dear schools, settings and organisations working in partnership with SEND children, young people and parent carers,

As we settle into our new academic year, we are trying to revisualize and emphasise our focus on the principles we agreed when we worked together to formulate our SEND Pledge to support our Strategic direction for children, young people and families who are impacted by SEND. A really important aspect of this is to collate a fully comprehensive commitment to the principles we set out, namely:

1. SEND is everybody's business - embedding the vision of the SEND strategy into the practice of everyone who works with children and families in ways that strengthen families

2. Identify and respond to needs early - a holistic and joined up early identification of and graduated response to needs

3. Deliver in the right place at the right time - improving outcomes for children and young people through making the best use of resources, ensuring a graduated response and high-quality local support and provision

In order to show your support for our collective pledge, please could you take a few seconds to click on this link: SEND - pledge your support ( and complete the form by confirming your support and then submitting the form. We will be collating all the settings and provisions who show support for this and will be sharing the list on line so we can represent a collective. We already have 85 settings signed up (Thank you to those who have made this step earlier in the year),  but it would be great to have everyone on board for this and it will help the LA and partners in health work together to increase the impact of each of the areas knowing the level of support is high. There is no commitment other than to show support for the principles highlighted.

The full SEND Pledge document is available below – please could you share with your settings / organisations.

Don’t delay – it really only takes 20 seconds.

Many thanks in anticipation.
