Challenging Behaviour
The Behaviours that Challenge Workshop was first piloted in 2015 by Dr Reddy, as way of supporting parents who had concerns about their children’s challenging behaviour. The workshops were offered to parents of children who were either diagnosed or on the pathway for diagnosis for children who present with social communication and/or attentional difficulties. Family Voice Peterborough were trained by the CPFT in the summer of 2017 and have been delivering it since. The programme is delivered by a parent-carer who has extensive knowledge and experience in working with families whose children are experiencing behavioural difficulties. The workshop will cover the following topics:
- What are social communication and/or attentional difficulties?
- What do we mean by challenging behaviour?
- Understanding the various causes and functions of challenging behaviour.
- And finally, what strategies can we use to help reduce challenging behaviour?
